This misconception is due to a misunderstanding of how anesthesia is administered. First, the anesthesiologist gives a premedication to relax the patient. This is followed by an initial dose, which follows with continuous anesthesia throughout surgery. The patient is monitored the entire time and, if the need for additional anesthesia arises, the dosage is adjusted
